Krukenberg’s Plastic Surgery and its Modification

Abstract

The author gives a concise account of Krukenberg’s differential method of plastic surgery in cases of patients with a missing hand or lower third of the forearm.

The advantages and certain deficiencies of the method are pointed out, as well as the causes accounting for the latter. Bauer’s modification is considered at the same time as a further step tovvards the improvement of Krukenberg’s method, stress being laid on its advantages and those points that were found superior to the original method. Finally, a description is given of the author’s o\vn modification and its usefulness in comparison with Krukenberg’s method and its modification by Bauer.
