The Role of Evaluation in Further Improvements of the Health System

Considering that the general tendency for better utilisation of resources which is being currently applied in Yugoslavia, should and could be equally applied in the field of health care, the author is proposing that the evaluation of health Services and finances should be introduced as a compulsory part of the decision-making process.
The author describes six different aspects of health care management which should be continuously monitored and evaluated. Instead of describing respective methodologies he advises the reader to consult relevant publications.
In conclusion, three essential goals and nine specific tasks for the introduction of evaluation into the management process of health Services are recommended.
