Abstract

Child abuse is a common problem worldwide, and affects allages, both sexes and all races. The presentation of child abusecases is extremely variable, and early and subtle cases are easilymissed. There is a growing body of literature on the subjectof child maltreatment; healthcare providers caring for youngchildren need to familiarize themselves with this literature toaid them in the identification, evaluation, and managementof these challenging patients. This article reviews ten key publicationson the subject of physical child abuse.
