Twelve Years Expirience With Kidney Transplantation in the Center for Dyalisis and Transplantation of Surgical Clinic of Medical University — Rijeka

For more than twenty years, renal transplantation and dialysis have been complementary methods in treatment of terminal renal failure, which would otherwise be infaust. Both methods contribute not only to survival of the patients but also to reasonable quality of life. However, in our practice we have taken into account conclusions indicating transplantation to be superior therapy to dialysis because of maintenance of higher quality of life. In spite of all problems related to renal transplantation, our results showing survival rate, degree of rehabilitation and incidence of complications have been in accordance with results obtained in other centres, what speaks in favour of the fact that our efforts have been completely justified.
