Metopiron Influence on Thyroid Gland of Mice

Ten days s. c. application of metopiron on white laboratory mices of body weight 250—300 gr. in dose of 10 mg. per day showed the change in structure of thyroid gland.
On the basis of dynamic cytophysiology changes we could conclude that thyroid shows the signs of stimulated gland activity.
Considering obtained results from the point of view of correlative histophysiology we think that the mechanism of action of metopiron on thyroid is very complex.
We are supposing that these relations are established by the agency of superior centres of regulation — hypophysis and hypothalamus.
Considering our precedent works we do not eliminate possibility of engaging epiphysis and epithalamus district in determination of these changes.
