Abstract

The type of the skull was determined by measuring oblique diameters on 400 skulls, chosen at random. In 8 of these cases (2%), there were found symmetrical skulls taking into consideration their occipital, temporoparietal and frontal parts. Occipital symmetry combined with temporoparietopetalia of the right or the left side was observed on 168 skulls (42°/o), but in some cases combined with frontopetalia of the right or the left side. Also, was found the left occipitopetalia associated with temporoparietopetalia in 147 skulls (36,8%), but in some cases associated also with frontopetalia of the opposite or the same side of the skull.

The right occipitopetalia was determined either clear or connected with prominences of temporoparietal and frontal part of the left or the right side of the skull on 77 cases (19,2°/o). Fossae of the skull and the labyrinth of temporal bone are on the side of the temporoparietopetalia antero-positioned while they are rather retracted on the side of occipitopetalia.

The appearance of the interior brain structures was examined in 100 cases of human brains, conserved in 10% formol, in symmetrical and asymmetrical skulls. In 30 of these brains, specially prepared, the appearance of the optic tract, the gyrus parahyppocampalis, the gyrus dentatus, the fornix, the nucleus dentatus and the superior cerebellar peduncle of symmetrical and asymmetrical brains was investigated. Ali the examined brains, were conserved in 10% formol for 3 months in their own roof of the skull and after that the conservation was continued in 5% formol lasting for 3 months.
