Abstract

A new isolated nerv-musele preparation from the urinary bladder is described. Electric nerve stimulation produces longitudinal contractions, while the preparation shows small spontaneous contractions or none. The responses to successive periods of nerve stimulation remained constant for several hours.

Ach, SHT and Histamine increase tonus and contractions, Noradrenaline and Papaverine decrease tonus and contractions of rat’s urinary bladder produced by nerve stimulation. Bradykinin, Vasopressin and Substance P increase more the tonus then contractions. Physostigmine and nerve stimulation increases tonus and the contractions at first, then after 3—4 contractions decreases the height of the contractions. Marsilid decreases the contractions only.

Atropine and Buscopan (Scopolamin-N-butyl-bromide) decrease the contractions for 40—60%, but leave tonus unimpaired. The remained part of contractions cannot be inhibited by repeated injections of the antagonists or with their combinations. LSD increases the tonus and contractions. Deseril decreases the height of contractions.

KCI increases the tonus strongly, but the effect of stimulations is compleatly blocked. CaCl2 increases the tonus, but the contractions are inhibited only partly.

Nicotine and Hexamethonium do not inhibit the effect of stimulation of the nerve. Ach in great concentration with Atropine does not show nicotinic effect, on the other hand 5HT with LSD produces inversed effect.

The stimulation of the nerve is postganglionic. The changes of tonus are independent of contractions and vice versa. It is discussed the possibility of other transmitter substances with Ach in parasymaptic innervation, the influence of polypeptides in “Hypertonic” urinary bladder and differences in autonomic nervous system of pelvic organs.
