Body lice collected several times in four districts of the P. R. Bosnia and Herzegovina were exposed to various concentrations of insecticides DDT (0,1%; 0,5%; 1,0%; 5,0%); BHC (0,25%; 0,5%); and Pyrethrum (0,02%; 0,04%). A total of 6780 body lice were tested using the method of W. H. O.
The following results have been obtained:
1) The body lice showed a distinct resistance to 0,1% DDT and a tendency of resistance to 0,5% and 1,0% DDT.
2) There is a tendency of resistance to 0,25% BHC but no tendency of resistance to 0,5% BHC.
3) The body lice shoved the greatest susceptibility to pyrethrum. All 720 body lice died when exposed to this insecticide.
