Abstract

1) Experiments were carried out on guinea-pigs to determine the relations and behaviour of two neurotropic substances viz. the tetanus-toxin and vitamin Bi. On two occasions three to four lethal doses of tetanus-toxin and vitamin Bi were injeeted to one group of guinea-pigs separately and to another mixed in one syringe.

2) These experiments confirmed in vivo the phenomenon of neutrotropic antagonism between vitamin Bi and the tetanus toxin.

3) These preliniinary experiments may bring about:

a) other similar experiments with other neurotropic poisons, other vitamins and hormones;

b) a more precise examination of the strength of the preparation Bi as well as of its presence in food;

c) a therapy of the diseases of the motoric nervous system and aspecially the genuine forms of epilepsy, Parkinsonism, chorea, ticks, neuritis, as well as the strengthening of the autonomous nervous system and in psychiatry as o shock with reactive action On psycho-sensorial centres; moreover, the therapy of tetanus by means of large dbses of vitamin Bi administered parenterally in combination with the antitoxic tetanus serum.
