Prof. Dr. Mirsada Hukić is a full member of the Academy of Science and Art of Bosnia and Herzegovina and full member of the European Academy of Science.

She finished Medical school and residency in microbiology and parasitology at the University of Sarajevo. At the University of Tuzla she obtained PhD (1992), and professorship (1992). Prof. Hukić has more than 30 years of intense experience in researching the ecology, physiology and genetics of microorganisms, relationships between different kinds of living things as well as the role of microorganisms in the processes that are useful and harmful to the life on Earth. She is the head of the Institute for Clinical Microbiology of the Clinical Center of the University of Sarajevo.

She is a professor of microbiology and immunology at the Medical school of the University of Tuzla and also at the School of Health Studies of the University of Sarajevo.

She made significant networking contacts with colleagues around the world and is a member of many scientific societies like: European Network for Diagnostics of "Imported" Viral Diseases, European Wildlife Disease Association, International Federation of Infection Control, Centre for the Coordination of Medical Research of the Academy of Science and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Bosnian representative in the EU Program Committee FP7- Health Research, „Focal point“ in the BIH for the European center for disease control, and the World Health Organization in the areas of flu, measles, and resistance to antibiotics.
