I was born in 1964 in Shiraz, Iran, earned my MD degree from Shiraz University of Medical Sciences in 1990, and have been involved in biomedical journalism from 1994. I have been working with several national, regional and international biomedical journals in one capacity or another.

Currently, I am the President of the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), the Editorial Consultant for The Lancet, honorary Editor of The Lancet Middle East edition, founding Editor of The International Journal of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (The IJOEM), and Editorial Board member of several journals.

I try to promote scientific activities in the region through giving several talks and running several workshops a year on scientific writing, peer review, research methodology, biostatistics, etc. I also act as consultant for many journals.
